Getting Around and Warming up During Rondy

Most Rondy events take place in the heart of downtown Anchorage, and the Free Rondy Shuttle makes enjoying Rondy downtown easy. Just park your car, or take the bus to downtown, and walk from venue to venue or hop on the free shuttle at the following locations.

Parking Downtown is Easy

Try these locations. All offer easy access to the Free Rondy Shuttle stop locations.

FREE BP Rondy Weekend Shuttle

  • Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Feb 24 - February 26 and March 3 - 5
    10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Sat, March 4, shuttles begin at 9 a.m.)

The shuttle route encompasses downtown Anchorage and down to Ship Creek to enjoy the Snow Sculptures and other activities. Running east down 6th Avenue, to A Street, to Rondy Central at the Carnival, down to Ship Creek, then back up to H Street, 5th Avenue west to I Street, and back to 6th Avenue.

Where to Warm-Up

  • Rondy Carnival, open Daily. Stop in the warming tent located in the Carnival at Rondy Central.
  • Fur Rondy Shop featuring the Dog Mushing Hall of Fame at 4th and D Street. 

Road Closures

4th Ave. between I St. and Cordova St; Cordova St. between 4th Ave. and 16th Ave. will be closed to the travelling public for the World Championship Sled Dog Races. Drivers should expect closures from Thursday evening, February 23rd through Sunday evening, February 26th.
Surrounding side streets will have limited access.


5th Ave. and 6th Ave. between G St. and Eagle St. and G St. and Eagle St. between 5th Ave. and 6th Ave. will be closed to the travelling public on Saturday, February 25th between approximately 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM for the Frostbite Footrace. Surrounding side streets will have limited
access. 


5th Ave. and 6th Ave. between K St. and C St. and C St. and K St. between 5th Ave. and 6th Ave. will be closed to the travelling public on Saturday, February 25th between 10:30 AM to approximately 12:30 PM for the Grand Parade. Surrounding side streets will have limited access. Drivers should expect some delays accessing the downtown area.


On Saturday, February 25th between 7:30 AM and 12:30 PM, during the Frostbite Footrace and the Grand Parade, A St. northbound between 9th Ave. and 5th Ave. will have limited access and will be used strictly for 5th Ave. Parking Garage and JC Penney Parking Garage. All other downtown traffic should use alternate routes.


On Saturday, February 25th between 7:30 AM and 12:30 PM, during the Frostbite Footrace and the Grand Parade, I St. northbound between 9th Ave. and 5th Ave. will have limited access and will be used strictly for People Mover bus access only. All other downtown traffic should use
alternate routes.


From Friday, February 24th to Saturday, February 25th, 7:00 PM, 2nd Ave. between North C St. and E St. will be closed to the travelling public for the Fur Rondy snowboarding exhibition. Please use alternate routes.
