Great Alaska Talent Competition Virtual Preliminaries

It’s time to showcase your talents for the chance to compete on stage at the closing Rondy 2021 event, the Great Alaska Talent Competition!

All preliminaries and the final performance will be held virtually this year to embrace safety measures for COVID-19.

Submit your video performance, named with your act name & the division you’re submitting to no later than February 15th, 2021 at the Dropbox link provided when you register.

Entry fee is $10 per act, and each act will select a division, as follows:

  • Division 1 – Ages 6-12
  • Division 2 – Ages 13-18
  • Division 3 – Adult Ages 19 and Up
  • Division 4 – Groups (2 or more per act)
  • Division 5 – Age 50+
  • TikTok Division (Special for 2021!)

The finals of the Great Alaska Talent Competition will be awarding the following prizes to the top competitors:

Performers selected for the finals will be contacted at least a week prior to the preliminaries to confirm their get the rundown of what to expect.

One Division winner is guaranteed to advance to the finals – and depending on number of entrants, a guarantee of 2 (for example if there are less than 5 registrations in a particular division, only one act will be guaranteed to advance based on score tally. Divisions that have over 15 registrants are guaranteed to have top 2 scores advance).

Preliminary judges will determine the finalist top 12 after the top scoring contestants that will advance to the BIG show on Sunday, March 7 on the website at!

All contestants will be contacted Sunday night February 28 after the final preliminary group has competed to inform them if they have advanced.

New rules for digital talent divisions:

  • Begin your performance by announcing the name of your act and the division you are competing in.
    • Performances must be a newly-produced video (no old uploads)
  • You may have a digital or physical background set up, but only one per performance. Lights for brighter video are ok.
  • No editing your performance. Performance needs to be run through one time.
  • No filters of any kind, even if using amplification (i.e. reverb or echo on voice etc. Natural reverb is allowed, i.e. vaulted ceilings etc.)
  • All acts need to be family friendly: anything lewd or inappropriate will be excused.
  • All preliminary acts should be limited up to but no longer than 2 minutes.
  • Singing, dancing, instrumental, comedic interpretation – all are welcome!
  • A full set of rules will be emailed to you by the Director once you have registered – be sure to include your current contact information.

  • Talent, Technical Ability, Pitch, Intonation
  • Showmanship & Entertainment Value
  • Stage Ready, Appearance, Style & Dress

TikTok Division


  1. 75% of overall performance must be content
  2. Must have an overall Fur Rondy Message
  3. Must include: #FurRondy & #GATC2021
  4. Only ONE submission per person/account
  5. 100% original audio/content (historical original footage of events acceptable)
  6. All submissions need to be current for this competition, not something that is pre-recorded from past performances

TikTok Judging:

  • Production Value
  • Stage/Act Presence
  • Audience Engagement Like/Share/Comment
  • Rondy-ness

TikTok Tips:

  • Play to the TikTok Universe
  • Groups through DUETING is allowed.
  • Solo acts are encouraged to turn off DUET until judging. (No one likes a copycat)

Talent and TikTok Divisions:

  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Submissions are due no later than the end of the day on February 15th, 2021 to the DropBox Link provided.
  • If you make it to the finals, your preliminary video submission will be your submission for the finals, so make it count!
  • Make sure when you upload your submisison that you title it with the name you registered under.
  • Do not wait until the last minute to upload!
